Is Africa really Poor?

A discussion brew up on YouTube recently, regarding proverty in Africa, as a Nigerian, I knew in my bones that this is inaccurate, yes we do have a number of people living below Western standards does not mean we are poor.

I pondered on this the whole day,  Charities have shown Clips of hungry children, to get donors for worthy causes, but how many of these projects get executed. I look again more closely, Are we really poor in Africa? I believe the issue we have is not being creative enough, no dispute that we had famines and wars in parts of the Continent, however we have excess  farming land in parts of the same continent.

When we were kids, and you are daydreaming, you get a knock on the head and told " stop  daydreaming! " As a Continent we have a poor Imagination, we can not dream ,think of what we want, as individuals, as aNation, as a Continent.

I am a Nigerian, South Africa gets the prize for innovation in the Continent. Nigeria has a population of 170 million people and 50% of the population are below 40 years old, South Africa provides the Malls, Telecommunications,Wines, Restaurants, Advertising,  TV content, Sports Sponsorship, Cable,whereas Nigerians want to work for them.

Nigeria as a case study is not poor, yes loads of mismanagement issues, diverse cultures, different languages, we have lost our identities. The irony is everyone has a different definition of poor, proverty is relative, because I may not have a running tap does not define me as poor, I save water by using the bowl (chuckle) I have an energetic work out by pulling the pulley at the well to get the water.

Innovation comes from problem solving.  The problem is we do not see the problem.

My answer to the question is NO!

Africa is not poor, we are living our dreams, it is the African dream that is poor.

 

Life is worth living happy.

    With the abundant resources available in each African countries and human resources abound, it saddened me especially in Nigeria to see things the way they are presently. Our leaders lack capacity to be proactive and plan ahead of time.
    Certainly, Africa is not poor it is just that we're yet to get the right set of people as leaders.

On my way to Work one morning, listening to an audio book, a statement pops at me "Success is achieving Set goals" Pondering on this, I realise teams are destroyed because we do not know how to manage success of teams when we achieve set goals.   A team is considered successful when set targets are met. A team would have gone through this cycle to become a performing team.
