Ignoring Competition Improves Sales.
As a Salesman, I have been trained to see and notice every minute detail of competition, How much is competition selling? What is Competition Numeric Distribution?, What is Competition Market Share?, and for many a year I have been a keen spectator of competition.
It was at my lowest ebb, I realized that I had the wrong doctrines embedded in my DNA, being in such a competitive mode, you never truly win. I had a Manager once whose desire to win was so huge, he won temporary recognition, but later lost it all. Life is more than a job or career. Life is made up of each aspect.
Winning is relative ( The term relative means to me the Webster definition: a view that ethical truths depend on the individuals and groups holding them) what might be a winner to me, may be different to my parents. What my Company wants may be different from what I want. If I do not know what I want, this makes me uneducated.
When you begin to compete, it slowly destroys your uniqueness, you want to be better version of someone else. Do not sell your soul to the devil. Company's have designed programmes to create an army where everyone behaves in a predicted manner, stifling talents of people. Unfortunately the financial security of the company is too tempting to let be.
Entrepreneurship begins when you are ready. Do not be scared to dream big, just be true to yourself. Not everyone will like you. So do not bother trying to please everyone. Just be the best version of yourself.
Be known for your principles and philosophy. That is what you will be remembered for.
How do you manage competition?
1. Be the best you can be naturally.
2. Solve problems that you would solve for free, but you are being paid for it.
3. Put yourself in your customer /client shoes, simply ask yourself, would I like this? Most times your target audience is similar to you.
4. If you are bored with the end product, it is a sure sign your target audience is also bored stiff.
Try something new regularly.
How do you manage Competition at work?
1. Competitive colleagues are similar to annoying neighbors. ( set boundaries)
2. Be yourself.
3. Believe in yourself.
4. Mind your own business (Territory)
5. Do not be intimidated of the tales being told by competition.
6. Have solutions for your own issues.
In a summary :
Succeed in your space.
Life is worth living happy.
